Stunned Studio City Residents Survey Storm Damage. LIVE VIDEO!!!

DEFIANT STUDIO VILLAGE RESIDENTS VOW: WE WILL REBUILD!

Dateline: Studio City, CA 8/23/2023 (KCAL9/Gray News) The aftermath of a rain event on Sunday night left the residents of a small Los Angeles district stunned. Dave Byers lives on Moorpark Street in Studio City, where several umbrellas and patio chairs slid around, scuffing multiple personal items.

Byers said he was sitting in his living room watching a replay of the Bills pre-season game on NFL Network when he started to get rain alerts. “Before you knew it, leaves were flying by the window. That’s when I grabbed the dog and tried to race to the basement,” he said. Moments later, Byers says: "That's when I realized I don't have a basement, or a dog."

The mantra came from Colfax Avenue to Moorpark Street to Radford Street to Ventura Boulevard and beyond: “WE WILL REBUILD!.” and proudly declaring “#STUDIOCITYSTRONG!

As Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass put it during a Wednesday news conference, after strong winds disturbed countless flower pots and wind chimes, “Make no mistake. Studio Village, we will rebuild together.”

The mantra of “rebuild,” from press briefings to social media, seeks some semblance of hope at a time when dozens have had their prized Temu hammocks tipped over or their now obsolete satellite dish blown all cattywampusLong-cherished cat enclosures, owned for generations. Rubble.

A look at previously unreleased personal text messages from one of Studio Village's most prominent residents came to light hours after the incident. The homeowner of 20 years reflects the defiant and resilient attitude being heard all across Studio City:
