Photo date: 10/14/21. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is still slight, but it’s a reminder that
comic book films are also meant to be fun, entertaining and ridiculous.
While a mid-credits sequence would suggest that Venom may also be
finding his way onto a bigger storytelling canvas, it’s nice to have a
franchise out there whose main aim is to provide knockabout action and
not much more.
Carnage is the most romantic superhero movie maybe ever, an
honest depiction of a loving but dysfunctional relationship and what it
takes to truly bridge the gap between two people who barely know how to
love themselves, let alone each other. Is it stupid? Oh my gods, yes, SO
STUPID. Just the stupidest movie you ever did see, but it’s no less
sincere for its stupidity.
